If you want a spring journey with mountains and forests, lakes and rivers, cities and distinctive local experiences, the trip from Kaohsiung to Taipei will open up a more colorful Taiwan than usual. Starting in Kaohsiung, you can visit Fo Guang Shan and then move on to the impressive modern look of Formosa Station. When night falls, Liuho presents a completely different face, with its characteristic food stalls and dishes lining the lively city atmosphere. Leaving Kaohsiung, the journey takes you up to Alishan, where ancient forests, tea hills and mist create a very distinctive highland scene. A small train winds through the forest, Sisters Lakes hide among the greenery, and thousand-year-old cypress trees stand tall beside the trail, making the trip feel slower so you have more time to take in the view.

Nantou, where Sun Moon Lake opens a wide, free space for a boat ride on the water. Wenwu Temple beside the lake offers a different character, solemn yet in harmony with the landscape. In Taichung, the evening brings the lively rhythm of Fengjia Night Market, where familiar Taiwanese dishes appear one after another from street stalls.

From Taichung to Taipei, the trip becomes lively with Shifen, where you can write your wishes and release a sky lantern in the old village, then visit Shifen Waterfall before admiring the modern lines of Taipei 101. When the city lights up, Ximending remains a meeting point for those who want to stroll, shop and taste distinctive dishes. Taipei is serene at Wuji Tianyuan Temple, a spiritual architectural landmark standing out among the mountains. Tamsui Old Street offers old-world riverside streets, while Tamsui Old Presbyterian Church preserves its century-old red-brick Gothic architecture, closing the spring journey with slices of Taiwan that are both peaceful and charming.
